Merchants Millpond State Park

Due to construction, hourly canoe rental at Merchants Millpond is closed until further notice. Arrangements for canoe-in campers will be made. Please check-in at the Visitor Center. The boat ramp area will remain open. 

Carvers Creek State Park

In 2023, we will explore the trails you can find in Carvers Creek State Park, give you some tips for enjoying your hikes, and pass on some of the wisdom our ranger staff has accumulated over the years. Our first exploration will be the 2-mile-long Rockefeller Loop Trail at the Long Valley Farm Access.

Carvers Creek State Park

Carvers Creek State Park publishes a monthly newsletter centered around the year's annual theme. For the January edition, we discuss First Day Hikes and some hiking tips.

Cliffs of the Neuse State Park, Eno River State Park, Falls Lake State Recreation Area, Haw River State Park, Lumber River State Park, Mayo River State Park, Morrow Mountain State Park, New River State Park, South Mountains State Park, Stone Mountain State Park

N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission's Tackle Loaner Program allows new anglers to borrow rods, reels, and other fishing gear free of charge.

Hammocks Beach State Park

Ferry service is closed until April 2023; no lifeguards or concessions; restroom facilities and potable water on Bear Island closed until mid-March 2023.

Carvers Creek State Park

Carvers Creek State Park is featuring a unique tree for each month's newsletter during the 2022 Year of the Tree! For the November edition, we discuss red mulberry trees and their importance in the local food web.

Pilot Mountain State Park

Park shuttle is currently not running; Family Campground is closed until March 15th.

Morrow Mountain State Park

Several facilities at Morrow Mountain are closed for extended periods in 2022-2023 due to construction.

Falls Lake State Recreation Area

All Rolling View family campsites are closed through May 14, 2023. All Holly Point campsites are closed from May 15, 2023 through September 31, 2023.

Crowders Mountain State Park

Ranger Daniel Tenney at Crowders Mountain State Park received the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Outstanding Government Service category for his work as a park ranger and his volunteer duties as firearms instructor for the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.

Carvers Creek State Park

Carvers Creek State Park is featuring a unique tree for each month's newsletter during the 2022 Year of the Tree! For the October edition, we discuss the sassafras and its role as an early successional in plant communities.

Mount Mitchell State Park

Commissary Ridge dispersed camping area inside Pisgah National Forest closed; please be bear aware when you are at Mount Mitchell State Park and the surrounding area.

South Mountains State Park

Visitors to South Mountain State Park coming in from I-40 should follow detour signage or directions.
