Pilot Mountain State Park

The summit area of Pilot Mountain State Park has parking space for 90 cars. Visitation to the park has surged from 400,000 people annually to over 1 million in recent years, resulting in long lines of traffic, safety hazards, and a deplenished visitor experience at the summit. Because of this, since 2020, the park has run a shuttle service on weekends and holidays during periods of historic peak use and closed the summit parking lot to regular vehicle traffic. Haw River State Park

Eastern Bluebird nesting season officially drew to a close in mid-August with the fledging of our last three bluebird babies.

Hammocks Beach State Park

No ferry service Mondays & Tuesdays in September; no lifeguards or concessions; restroom facilities and potable water open daily; no pets on the ferry

Lake James State Park

The concession stand at the Paddy's Creek swimming beach closed for the season on September 5. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards will not be available to rent after this date.

Lake James State Park

A footbridge is closed for repairs on the southern leg of the Overmountain Victory Trail. This section leads from Paddy's Creek to Canal Bridge.

Several facilities at Morrow Mountain are closed for extended periods in 2022 due to construction.

Falls Lake State Recreation Area

All Rolling View campsites are closed through December 31, 2022. All Holly Point campsites are closed from January 1, 2023 through June 1, 2023.
