Zoomed in map of William B. Umstead State Park showing the Turkey Creek Bridge closure

Bridge Closure on South Turkey Creek M.U.T.

The bridge over Crabtree Creek at William B. Umstead State Park has been removed and will need to be replaced. Hikers, mountain bicyclists, and equestrians should not utilize Ebenezer Church Road bridge due to motor vehicle traffic.

North Carolina State Parks is working closely with the N.C. Department of Transportation on the bridge replacement project across Crabtree Creek. We are hoping to begin construction in the next few weeks and complete the project before the end of the year. We will continue to update this blog with the latest information.

In the meantime, visitors should be aware that there is no connection from South Turkey Creek Multiuse Trail to either North Turkey Creek Multiuse Trail or Cedar Ridge Multiuse Trail. Please plan accordingly.

Hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians should not utilize the Ebenezer Church Road bridge, as this is a busy vehicular road (45 mph speed limit) and does not currently provide safe pedestrian access.

We appreciate your continued patience as we work to provide a safe recreation access along the North and South Turkey Creek Multiuse Trails.
