The Itusi Bike Trails are currently CLOSED due to wet conditions.

We are building a new bathhouse, six new camper cabins, and adding 11 full hook-up sites with water, electricity, and sewer in our family campground. The work is ongoing and expected to finish very soon. We hope to open the sites for resrvations begining in late February.
Last updated on: Tuesday, January 5, 2021The visitor center is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily. All visitors must wear a mask or face covering while inside the visitor center.
The swim beach remains CLOSED. There are NO boat rentals or concessions.
Hiking trails, boat ramp, and some restroom facilities are open. Bike trails are open, weather permitting. There are no reservations permitted for the community building or picnic shelters.
Family campsites and group campsites are open for reservations. Visit the reservations website or call 1-877-722-6762 to make a reservation.
Please note that this alert is updated only when something changes. Generally, state parks are following the phased reopening statewide. As of October 3, we are following modified Phase 3.

Lake Norman State Park
Lake Norman State Park, on the largest manmade lake in North Carolina, boasts one of the region’s more popular mountain biking network, offering 30.5 miles of single-track trail. Nearby are a 125-yard-long swim beach and bathhouse complex as well as a boat ramp and opportunities for fishing from spots along park trails. A family campground with 32-sites and a group campground are available during warm-weather months, and a community building with kitchen facilities, restrooms and fireplace can be rented for family and group events year-round. Free interpretive programs are complemented by educational exhibits throughout the visitor center and along the child-friendly Dragonfly Trail.
