Mount Mitchell State Park does not offer transportation to visitors.
Visitors who want to hike to or from Black Mountain Campground or other locations should arrange transportation independently and plan accordingly.
The Mount Mitchell restaurant will be closed for the season beginning August 4, 2026.
The concessions stand at the summit will remain open with longer hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily.
Access to the Park
The park is accessible from the Asheville side of the Blue Ridge Parkway only. North of the park, the Parkway is closed. There are no gas stations between Asheville & the park.
