August Lake Schedule -- Please Read!

The lake swimming area at Hanging Rock State Park will be closed on August 21-22 and 28-29 due to staff shortages created by the upcoming school year.  Otherwise, the area will be open to the public daily through Labor Day Monday (September 3rd).  The diving platform may be closed at times depending on staff availability.

Boat rentals will remain available at the refreshment stand on weekends only until the end of October, but the beach and swimming area will be closed after Labor Day.  Please contact the park for more information.

Trails

Hiking

A hiking trail network that is picturesque and diverse covers more than 18 miles and leads to mountain views, rock outcrops, waterfalls and even a mountain cave. Rounding out the fare are a mountain biking network and a wheelchair-accessible exploration.

Mountain Biking

Enjoy riding your mountain bike on single track, with rock ledges, fast flow, stream crossings, and great views of the Sauratown Mountains. Four trails offer 8.4 miles of intermediate riding—Land of the Lost, Major Tom, Original Loop, and North Side trails. Hiking is also allowed on the trails, although hikers should yield to mountain bikers using this trail. All trails begin at the parking lot next to “The Farmhouse” located at 2700 Moore’s Springs Rd. Westfield, NC 27053. Advanced and beginner level trails are being developed now and will be constructed in the near future.
