Sparrow Springs Access Closed Thursday...   

The Sparrow Springs Access Area will be closed Thursday, January 23 for construction.  The Linwood Access Area and Boulders Access Area will be open.  Operating hours for the Linwood Access Area and the Boulders Access Area are 8:00 am - 6:00 pm.  Please plan your visit accordingly.

Lake Area Closed   

Construction will begin in December on a new lake trail.  The lake area will be closed to all public access during construction.  No park visitors will be allowed on the fishing pier or allowed to hike or fish around the lake during this time.

Crowders Mountain State Park

Companion peaks at Crowders Mountain State Park—The Pinnacle and Crowders Mountain—offer challenging hikes, towering cliffs and 25-mile views of the surrounding piedmont. Eleven trails range from pastoral to strenuous, including the Ridgeline Trail, which links to Kings Mountain State Park and Kings Mountain National Military Park in South Carolina. A nine-acre lake offers choice spots for fishing or an opportunity to try canoeing with rentals available. Backcountry camping is featured with individual sites approximately a mile from parking areas. The rugged terrain of Crowders Mountain lends itself to rock climbing and bouldering with a permit in designated areas. A visitor center with museum-quality exhibits complements regular interpretive programs.

Upcoming closures

Crowders Mountain State Park has begun construction on Connect NC bond improvements at the park. Sparrow Springs and Linwood accesses will undergo periodic closures during construction for the length of the project, which will last until at least late October. Prior to your visit, please check this page for any alerts or call the park office for the latest information. For your safety and the safety of our staff, please do not enter any areas that are marked closed.
