Hanging Rock State Park is making improvements to its campground to provide visitors with updated facilities and more accessible, comfortable campsites. The project will replace the campground’s two existing bathhouses with larger, modern facilities that provide improved ADA accessibility. Approximately 73 existing tent/trailer campsites will also receive improvements, including upgraded campsite borders, gravel surfacing, new fire rings, lantern holders, and picnic tables.
The park's vacation cabins will remain open for reservations during construction.
The $3 million project is funded through the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF).
HH Architecture of Raleigh, North Carolina, is the project designer, and KNA Contracting, LLC, of Roanoke, Va., is the contractor.
The campground is expected to reopen before Fall 2027. This page will be updated if the timeline changes. We appreciate the public’s patience as these improvements are made to enhance the camping experience at Hanging Rock State Park.
