The U.S. 221 access has reopened at New River State Park.
The drive-to campground, visitor center, community buildings, picnic shelters, and trails are open. All other accesses remain closed. Please do not attempt to access closed areas.
Most state parks in western North Carolina have reopened at least partially.
Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, and South Mountains are closed long-term until further notice. Check park pages for the most up-to-date status of facilities.
