The "Paddle It" kayak series returns for 2025! Join state park staff and other community partners for a fun paddle experience on Saturdays in September. Participants will meet at the Morrow Mountain Boathouse parking lot at 8:30am.
Dates available include September 6, 13, 20, and 27. All supplies are provided i.e. kayaks, paddles, and life jackets. Advanced registration is required due to limited amount of equipment. A "Bring Your Own Boat" option is available but involves a separate registration.

History Hike – Public Program: Saturday July 12th, 2025

If you enjoy learning about local history, then we have the thing for you! Take a short, yet somewhat steep, walk with Ranger Matheson to check out the fire tower and the Civilian Conservation Corps cabin here in the park. This program is for most ages and will be meeting at the Ranger Office at 10:00am!

PROGRAM FULL - Dune Ranger Discovery Camp

Calling all future Dune Rangers! Join Ranger Austin and friends for a fun, educational, and adventurous three-day camp. Explore maritime forests, paddle on the Roanoke Sound, climb the tallest active dune on the east coast, be creative with cool arts and crafts projects, play goofy games, help with stewardship projects, and make new friends. At the end of the week, you will be an official Dune Ranger! Our camp is supported by Friends of Jockey's Ridge.
Open to grades 3-6.
Kron House Tour
April 20, 2025, 2pm - 3pm
Francis Kron is one of the most influential people in Stanly County history. While Kron is remembered best as the first medical doctor to serve the Uwharrie Mountain region, he also helped the community in many other roles and capacities. Come join park staff for an open tour of the homesite from 2pm-3pm. Drop ins are welcome!
