Ranger Workshop - Haunted High Country

October 28, 2026, 2pm - 3:30pm

The High Country is filled with ghost stories and unexplained encounters. What stories have you been told? Come carve some Jack-o-Lanterns and share some spooky high country stories with us. This program will be at The Park at Seven Devils. This is a Ranger Workshop with The Town of Seven Devils. 

History Hike: CCC Cabin & Fire Tower

November 22, 2025, 10am - 11am

Accompany Ranger Wood on a short walk up to the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) Cabin where you’ll be able to take a look inside and learn about the 1933 New Deal program.  Then discuss the Fire Tower, located just beyond the cabin, and its connection to our park.  This program is open to all ages, and we hope to see you there!

History Hike

September 20, 2025, 10am - 11:30am

Accompany Ranger Matheson on a two mile History Hike at Rendezvous Mtn. We will walk the gravel service road out to the James Wilson Church cemetery, and discuss Rendezvous Mountain's history. This will be a two mile hike. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Doctor Kron House Tour

August 3, 2025, 2pm - 3pm
The Kron family lived near Morrow Mountain in the mid- to late-19th century. Francis Kron was renowned as the region's first medical doctor and also served the community in other capacities. Tour the family homesite with park staff and learn about their unique place in Stanly County history. Drop ins are welcome from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. No advanced registration is required.

National TRACK Trails Day Hike

August 16, 2025, 11am - 12pm
Our park staff will be leading a guided hike on the Quarry Trail, which is our designated TRACK Trail. This is an easy and family-friendly hike that will cover the geology of the Uwharries, and the history of the CCC at Morrow Mountain State Park. We will utilize many of the informative and interactive brochures provided by the Kids In Parks organization.

Morrow Mountain Bird Walk

July 25, 2025, 8:30am - 10am
Join park staff for a guided bird walk along the shores of Lake Tillery and part of the Fall Mountain Trail. This is one of the best spots at Morrow Mountain State Park to view Bald Eagles and Ospreys fishing for their next meal. Birdwatchers of all experience levels and abilities are welcome to attend.

Bring your binoculars and a camera if you have one. It will be a great opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Bird checklists and field guides will be provided to help with bird identification. Be prepared to hike up to one and half miles over uneven ground. We will meet at the

Coffee Time!

What's better than enjoying your morning cup of coffee alone? How about enjoying it with good company!

Visit Morrow Mountain State Park for light refreshments and to meet members of the park staff team. Bring your own mug or borrow one of ours. This event will be held at the Morrow Mountain Lodge located inside the Park Office.
