Come spend some time at Rendezvous Mountain capturing the beauty of the natural world through your lens! Park Tech Abbie will be available from 10am-12pm to offer some tips and tricks to help you achieve that breathtaking shot. This is an informal program that is open to all skillsets, so grab a friend and stop on by!
All North Carolina state parks west of Interstate 77 are closed through at least Oct. 31.
Crowders Mountain, Gorges, Grandfather Mountain and Lake Norman state parks, as well as Rendezvous Mountain, will reopen at least partially on Nov. 1.
Elk Knob, Lake James, New River, and Stone Mountain state parks will reopen at least partially on Nov. 15; three parks will remain closed until further notice and face long-term closures: Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, and South Mountains.
State Parks Director Brian Strong provides additional information on post-Helene rescue and recovery efforts and the status of western state parks.

To celebrate North Carolina’s “Great State Trail Day,” Rendezvous Mountain will offer a guided Tree ID hike on the Talking Tree trail Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at 10 am. Please meet in the upper parking area near the Ranger office for a 6 tenth of a mile hike.

Join an interpretive Ranger to look at some examples of the different mammals that live in the forest around Rendezvous Mtn. Kids will be able to look and feel some tanned skins and animal skulls. This will be an informal table talk on the porch of the Ranger office, from 1:30 till 3:00pm.

Jeff Matheson is the new superintendent of Rendezvous Mountain, formerly a state educational forest that was originally purchased by the state as the third state park.
