Silent Hike ( Hansel & Gretel Hike)

Meet in front of Rockefeller house to hike to Cypress Loop.

Nature Hike

January 1, 2025, 1pm - 2pm
Come out for a Ranger-led nature hike. We will be exploring our fire-dependent longleaf pine ecosystem and the recently drained millpond that provides a glimpse of land-use history dating back to the 1800s. We will observe numerous native species to the Sandhills and visit some 200-year-old longleaf pine trees with Red Cockaded Woodpecker cavities. Bring a bottle of water, a camera (if you like taking pictures), and your walking shoes! We will meet in front of the park office for this event.

Year of the NC Scavenger Hunt

January 1, 2025, 10am - 11am
Celebrate the near year and our great state with a scavenger hunt! We'll be searching for some of our state symbols on the Wiregrass Loop Trail. Be sure to dress for the weather! Meet in the small parking lot at our Sandhills Access.

ROCK ID

January 1, 2025, 10am - 11am
Visitors will meet in front of the Welcome Center at 10am to learn about the rock cycle and different types of rocks! We will then go on a hike on the Rockefeller Loop to find different types of rocks for visitors to identify using what they just learned. If there are a lot of little kids we may cut the hike in half using the fire line.

Canoe Fishing

May 7, 2025, 5pm - 7pm
Come out with Ranger Baker to fish from the canoe, cast your line into the waters that has hardly been fished. There will be a limit of 6 spots on this canoe fishing hike.

Camping Safety

September 22, 2024, 1pm - 2pm
Now that the weather is getting cooler its time to go camping. Join Ranger Baker to Prepare yourself for a successful camping trip by attending our camping safety program. We will be going over items and materials that you will need for camping. This will allow you to have further knowledge over the surroundings of nature, wildlife and the environment you may go camping in. We look forward to seeing those who attend. Call the Park Office to sign up.

Volunteer Day

Join us at the Long Valley Farm Access of Carvers Creek State Park for a volunteer day.

Fishing on the First

September 1, 2024, 5pm - 6pm
Our Rangers will be opening the gates to our dam that you can fish off. Gates will be open from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm

Canoe Hike

September 17, 2024, 4pm - 6pm
Join us at Carvers Creek State Park for a canoe lesson followed by a paddle on the swamp.
