Water levels in the Carolina Bay Lakes are extremely low due to hot weather and drought.
Naturally occurring aquatic vegetation & algae that grew during the springtime are dying off, accumulating along shorelines, and decomposing. While unpleasant, these conditions are not known to pose a risk to public health.
