Hike with a Ranger on the Summit Trail to celebrate Great Trails State Day. It’s always a good day to just be out on the trail. We can talk about anything and everything along the way! The Summit Trail is a moderate to strenuous 1.9 mile hike one way. Please dress accordingly and bring water. Meet at the Summit Trail parking lot.
All campsites are closed until further notice due to damage from Hurricane Helene.
For nearby alternatives, please check out Grandfather Mountain or New River state parks.
Mount Mitchell State Park is now reopened to the public.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is open up to the state park entrance but remains closed from just past Mount Mitchell through milepost 334 near Little Switzerland. Please read our blog post for the most up-to-date information on park access and trails status.
