Fishing in the mist at Kerr Lake State Recreation Area
Flooding at Kerr Lake

Kerr Lake rose 8 feet since 8:00 am on 5/17/18 due to extremely heavy rainfall throughout the Roanoke River Basin cresting at about 308.7’msl.  The lake level has started to recede slowly and was at was 308.35’ msl as of 5:00 pm on 5/24/18. We have notified those with reservations on impacted sites over the last several days.  We are confident that there will be significant flooding of campsites and boat ramps for Memorial Day Weekend.

The bridges on Anderson Creek Rd. Jacksontown Rd. and Nutbush Rd. are closed due to flooding.

All campgrounds have flooded sites.

The campground at Bullocksville is entirely closed right now due to flooded roads.

The water receded off the campground entrance road at Henderson Point enough to open it this morning.

Most of the boat ramps in the NC Portion of J. H. Kerr Reservoir are currently flooded. The boat ramps that are currently open are:

Nutbush Area 2 Ramp
Steele Creek Marina Ramp at the Moorings ($5)
Wildlife Resources Commission Ramp at County Line
Wildlife Resources Commission Ramp at Henderson Point
Wildlife Resources Commission Ramp at Hibernia
