Recreation Grants and Outreach

Our group has the pleasure of providing local governments guidance in applying for and managing grants that “help build happiness” all over the state of North Carolina through land acquisition for, and the development of, parks and recreation facilities.  We manage the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF), which is a state-sponsored grant program funded through appropriations by the NC General Assembly. We also manage the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), which distributes funds annually to all states for the purpose of land acquisition for, and the development of outdoor recreation.  These funds are alternated annually between state parks and local governments.

All counties and municipalities are eligible to apply for these grant funds on a dollar-for-dollar matching basis. Through 2014, the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund has provided assistance for 785 projects. Nearly 400 local governments in all 100 North Carolina counties have received assistance through the PARTF Grant program.  The federal Land and Water Conservation grant program has provided over 900 matching grants for state and local parks since 1965.

Our goal is to assist communities all across the state in their efforts to improve their parks and recreation services, which in turn improves the quality of life for their citizens and helps make their communities more inviting to businesses, new residents, and visitors.

For assistance or more information about these programs please feel free to contact us or see the information provided under Grants.
