Our park staff will be leading a guided hike on the Quarry Trail, which is our designated TRACK Trail. This is an easy and family-friendly hike that will cover the geology of the Uwharries, and the history of the CCC at Morrow Mountain State Park. We will utilize many of the informative and interactive brochures provided by the Kids In Parks organization.

Join park staff for a guided bird walk along the shores of Lake Tillery and part of the Fall Mountain Trail. This is one of the best spots at Morrow Mountain State Park to view Bald Eagles and Ospreys fishing for their next meal. Birdwatchers of all experience levels and abilities are welcome to attend.

Bring your binoculars and a camera if you have one. It will be a great opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Bird checklists and field guides will be provided to help with bird identification. Be prepared to hike up to one and half miles over uneven ground. We will meet at the

The "Paddle It" kayak series returns for 2025! Join state park staff and other community partners for a fun paddle experience on Saturdays in September. Participants will meet at the Morrow Mountain Boathouse parking lot at 8:30am.

Dates available include September 6, 13, 20, and 27. All supplies are provided i.e. kayaks, paddles, and life jackets. Advanced registration is required due to limited amount of equipment. A "Bring Your Own Boat" option is available but involves a separate registration.

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with a guided walk at Morrow Mountain State Park. We will test our knowledge of birds by identifying and counting them for an eBird checklist. Field guides and local bird lists will be available for identification. Please bring binoculars if you have them. Be prepared to hike approximately one mile over uneven ground. We will meet at the Boathouse and Fall Mountain Trail parking lot. Beginners are welcome to attend!

Celebrate the wide world of birds by attending a guided bird count with park staff. All data goes toward the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). Be prepared to hike approximately one mile distance on the Fall Mountain Trail over mostly flat ground along the Lake Tillery shoreline. Limited binoculars available. Bring your own if you have them. A bird checklist and field guides will be available for participants.

All are welcome but some birdwatching experience is suggested. Meet at the Lake Tillery/Boathouse parking lot.
