North Carolina State Parks are joining the American Canoe Association to offer low-cost kayaking instruction to celebrate National Safe Boating Week.

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with a guided walk at Morrow Mountain State Park. We will test our knowledge of birds by identifying and counting them for an eBird checklist. Field guides and local bird lists will be available for identification. Please bring binoculars if you have them. Be prepared to hike approximately one mile over uneven ground. We will meet at the Boathouse and Fall Mountain Trail parking lot. Beginners are welcome to attend!
Bats are one of the coolest animals in the world. No other critter is as mystifying and misunderstood in popular culture. Join our park staff for an evening talk about the important roles that bats play in nature. This program will be held at the park office. We hope you will fly by!

May is the perfect time of year to blaze trails for beautiful blooms! Join a Park Ranger on this easy 1-2-mile hike while we search for blooming wildflowers blossoms and the lovely Mountain Laurel found in the park! Meet at the picnic shelter. 

Explore Morrow Mountain after dark! Go on a guided hike of the Quarry Trail with park staff. We will look and listen for signs of nocturnal wildlife. Bring your own flashlight or headlamp; red light function is preferred. Registration is limited to 50 participants. Please call the Park Office to sign up at (704) 982-4402. Meet at Shelter C.
