Join a Ranger for a short hike in the Picnic Area to learn how to identify the trees within Stone Mountain State Park. Weather Permitting.

Join a Ranger at the Visitor Center to explore around outside for a kids scavenger hunt. Weather permitting.

Join a Ranger at the visitor center to learn about the different kinds of animals that lurk around the park at night.

Join Ranger Wood for an introduction to the art of fly fishing! Whether you're curious about the basics or looking to build confidence on the water, this program is a great place to start. This is a hands-on fishing instruction program. Registration is Required. Bring a lunch & drinking water, sunscreen, appropriate footwear, and rubber boots or waders (if available). Email dillon.wood@ncparks.gov to register. Space is limited, and you must be over the age of 12.  
The N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation announced today that six division sites are celebrating their 50th anniversary as National Natural Landmarks (NNL) as designated by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior.
The N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation announced that Michael Wood is the new park superintendent at Stone Mountain State Park in Wilkes and Alleghany counties.
All North Carolina state parks west of Interstate 77 are closed through at least Oct. 31.
Crowders Mountain, Gorges, Grandfather Mountain and Lake Norman state parks, as well as Rendezvous Mountain, will reopen at least partially on Nov. 1.
