The Land and Water Conservation Fund, a program under the federal Department of the Interior, has awarded over $26.5 million in matching grants to support outdoor recreation projects across North Carolina.
The new visitor center at Jockey's Ridge State Park offers more space and state-of-the-art additions, after a renovation that expanded its size to 6,200 square feet.
A gift of more than $1 million from Ms. Barbara Rose McIntyre to the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund will be directed to projects including restoration, education and accessibility for children.
