All North Carolina state parks west of Interstate 77 are closed through at least Oct. 31.
Topics Related to Crowders Mountain State Park
Crowders Mountain, Gorges, Grandfather Mountain and Lake Norman state parks, as well as Rendezvous Mountain, will reopen at least partially on Nov. 1.
Elk Knob, Lake James, New River, and Stone Mountain state parks will reopen at least partially on Nov. 15; three parks will remain closed until further notice and face long-term closures: Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, and South Mountains.

The Friends invite you to help with trail work to restore your hurricane-impacted park on Saturday, November 23rd. There’s a lot to do! Trail work volunteers will be treated to lunch after the workday. Meet at the Sparrow Springs Visitor Center, 522 Park Office Lane, Kings Mountain, NC at 8:30 a.m. for refreshments, fellowship, and meet the trail crew leaders. Water, snacks, work gloves, safety glasses, insect repellant, and tools will be provided. Dress appropriately for outdoor work and bring any necessary medications. Event is weather dependent.

M. Scott Avis has been named as the new south district superintendent, overseeing 11 parks in the North Carolina state parks system.
The $13.7 million will fund capital improvements projects at 11 state parks.
Ranger Daniel Tenney at Crowders Mountain State Park received the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Outstanding Government Service category for his work as a park ranger and his volunteer duties as firearms instructor for the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.
