For thousands of years, people all over the world use plants to bring color and joy indoors. Plants that remain colorful in the cold winter months became associated with winter holidays, such as Yule, Solstice and Christmas. This program shares some of North Carolina’s vibrant plants of winter, and allows participants to take home an example by making their own leaf printing craft. Suitable for all ages, this program is free and open to the public. Drop by anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 pm to learn about plants that stay green in winter, make a leaf print ornament to take home, and enjoy roasting a marshmallow. This program is being conducted by Sean Higgins with NC State Parks Interpretation & Education.
