Join park staff on a guided tree ID hike along Upper Boone Fork Trail. Learn how to ID common tree species found here in the Blue Ridge Mountains based on leaf shape, bark, and buds. This 1-mile, round trip hike will start at Boone Fork Parking Area (mile post 299.9 on the Blue Ridge Parkway), walk to the bridge by the Tanawha trail, meander down Upper Boone Fork Trail to reach Calloway Peak View Parking Area (mile post 299.7 on the Blue Ridge Parkway), then hike back to Boone Fork Parking Area. While there is not much elevation change on this hike, making it an easier hike, there are still roots and rocks to step on and over, so please wear close-toed shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, bring water, and please NO pets.
