Join us at Merchants Millpond State Park for another summer full of adventures!
Join us on Monday, July 28th as we soar into the dashing realm of dragonflies! While they may not breath fire, these creatures still control the skies in their own way. Dragonflies are master hunters in the air, but did you know they get their start in the water? Dragonflies also have many adaptations that have helped them hone their flight skills and further making them worthy of their name. Come join us as we learn about what makes the species we have here at the Millpond so special.
This program will start at 10:00 AM sharp at the visitor center auditorium and last for about an hour. We will meet in the auditorium for a brief lecture before heading outside to look for dragonflies. It may be hot, so guests are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
Summer is one of the best times to search for dragonflies at the Millpond and we have identification guides available upon request, so come on out and see what you can spot. We also have a small scavenger hunt set up for those who are interested, so grab a list and go see what you can find!
