Join us at Merchants Millpond State Park for another summer full of adventures!

On Monday, June 23rd, join Ranger Alan as he takes us through the amazing world of animal tracking. Everything that moves through the park leaves a track, and there's a lot we can tell by the size, shape, and even depth. Different animals leave different style prints on the ground that we can learn to distinguish between. We will even make some prints of our own!

This program will start at 10:00 AM sharp at the visitor center auditorium and last for about an hour. We will meet for a brief lecture before heading outside for our animal prints craft. Since this is an outside activity, guests are encouraged to dress for the weather. We will be dealing with plaster and things may get messy, so a backup set of clothes are recommended.

As summertime rolls around, lots of animals at the Millpond become more active, so now is a great time to look for animal tracks in the wild. We encourage guests to hike the trails for themselves and observe the prints that they see firsthand, using the knowledge gained from the programs to try and identify what animal may have left the track.  We also have a small scavenger hunt set up for those who are interested, so grab a list and go see what you can find!
