Join us on October 11, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, for a fun-filled Nature Day celebration at South Mountains State Park! Visitors of all ages can enjoy hands-on activities like painting mini pumpkins, building birdboxes, and making animal tracks. There will be plenty of other engaging nature-based activities to explore, making it a perfect event for families and nature enthusiasts alike. The WNC Nature Center will present programs at 10:30 and 11:30. Heartstrings of Fairview will play music at the Picnic Shelter at 10:30 and 11:45. Many community organizations will also host education and activity stations. Activities are located at the Visitor Center and Jacob Fork parking area. There will be NO activities at Clear Creek Access. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with the outdoors and unleash your creativity! Mount Mitchell State Park is now reopened to the public.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is open up to the state park entrance but remains closed from just past Mount Mitchell through milepost 334 near Little Switzerland. Please read our blog post for the most up-to-date information on park access and trails status.
