Join a ranger on a hike on a small section of the Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail in Chimney Rock State Park. Participants will meet at the Meadows Parking Area and hike up the Four Seasons Trail to the top of the Chimney. Be prepared for a 3 mile roundtrip hike. Bring food, water, comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
The Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail will provide a connection between Chimney Rock State Park; Lake Lure; Upper Hickory Nut Gorge, including Bearwallow Mountain, Florence Nature Preserve, Wildcat Rock, and Buffalo Creek Park. Much of the land that the HGST will be constructed on is protected by both Chimney Rock State Park and Conserving Carolina, a western North Carolina land trust.
