The 2026 NCSciFest theme is "Science Matters" and we're excited to talk about eleven years of bluebird conservation lessons learned by staff & volunteers at Haw River State Park.
Meet in the courtyard outside of the Main Lodge (building closest to flagpole) for a talk about the history of bluebird conservation followed by an easy hike around Lake Loop (0.7 miles) to view several different styles of nestboxes and look for baby birds. Please bring comfortable walking shoes for a natural-surface travel (packed dirt or gravel) and water/snacks as needed. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with nature and expand your knowledge of the local wildlife as we celebrate science in the outdoors!
