Hanging Rock State Park is home to a variety of species including the American beaver. Beavers contribute to healthy habitats for other species by acting as “ecosystem engineers”. This paddle program will give you an up-close look at a beaver’s den and how modifying the environment has created a diverse and productive ecosystem for other species at Hanging Rock Lake. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided. This program is suitable for all ages and children must be accompanied by an adult. To register or for more questions email andra.dalton@ncparks.gov.
As of August 28, 2025, we are no longer accepting checks as a form of payment.
