Looking for a fun and family-friendly activity to kick off your holiday weekend? Come join us for Free Fishing on Friday, July 4th! The NC Wildlife Resources Commission allows NC residents to fish public waters without a state fishing license during this one day of the year. State fishing licenses are usually required for anyone who is 16 years and older. We will be offering poles and tackle to borrow from our Boathouse (limited supply), and park staff will be present to provide assistance if needed. Preregistration is encouraged in order to guarantee equipment; otherwise, fishing poles are available on a first-come, first-served basis or you can bring your own. Fishing worms will be available for purchase. Please call the Park Office to sign up at 704-982-4402.

Rangers often wear many hats throughout their day while they accomplish different tasks to help run the park. Join a Park Ranger to learn about what it means to be a park ranger in NC State Parks and check out some of the cool hats they wear!

Bats are one of the coolest animals in the world. No other critter is as mystifying and misunderstood in popular culture. Join our park staff for an evening talk about the important roles that bats play in nature. This program will be held at the park office. We hope you will fly by!
