General Utility Worker

The General Utility Worker position at William B. Umstead State Park is a great introduction to working in parks and an opportunity to learn many new skills. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
The position is 40 hours per week for a six- or 11-month term, with the possibility of rehiring after a state-mandated separation. Pay is $10 per hour. We have multiple positions open.
The person selected for this position will work with other General Utility Workers to ensure the park's facilities are clean and maintained. This team performs daily cleanup of the picnic areas, campground, parking lots, restrooms, and other public facilities. The team also works to maintain our grounds and landscaping, including mowing, weed eating, trail maintenance, and park beautification. General Utility Workers will assist with short-term and ongoing projects and may perform repairs and light trades work.
The right person for this position will have a can-do attitude, be willing to learn, and be able to interact with the general public in a positive manner. Most of the work completed in this position is performed outdoors, in all weather conditions. Applicants must be able to work outside in hot weather for extended periods of time.
