Friends of Lower Haw River State Natural Area is holding invasive plant species workdays with N.C. State Parks biologists.
We will have a workday on Saturday, June 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Invasive plant workdays typically involve identifying and removing non-native plants using clippers, pruners, saws, or any other non-motorized hand tool. Only park staff will be able to use motorized equipment like chainsaws and brush saws for larger plants. Learn about invasive plants and removal techniques.
Bring your own loppers or hand pruners, work gloves, insect repellent, and water. Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and sturdy closed-toe shoes.
Pre-registration is required for workdays. Please use the Register button or email lowerhawevents@gmail.com with "Invasives" in the subject line to sign up for the Whack-Attack Team.
