Seasonal - Park Attendant
The park attendant position at Pilot Mountain State Park is a great introduction to working at a North Carolina state park. This position works alongside three other park attendants to ensure the park's facilities are clean and maintained. This team of park attendants performs daily cleanup of the restrooms, picnic area, campground, parking lots and other public facilities. In addition to daily cleaning, the candidate selected for this position will perform ground maintenance duties including — but not limited to — mowing, weed eating and trail maintenance. The right candidate for this position should have a can-do attitude, be willing to learn and must be able to interact with the general public in a positive manner. Most of the work completed in this position is performed outdoors, in all weather conditions. Applicants must be able to work outside in hot weather for extended periods of time. For a motivated candidate this can be an excellent opportunity to learn many new skills. Weekend and holiday work is a requirement of this position. Applicants must possess a valid drivers license and be 18 years of age or older.
About Pilot Mountain State Park:
Pilot Mountain State Park is a NC State Park located in Surry and Yadkin Counties. It is roughly 3700 acres in size, and is split into two distinct sections. There is the Mountain section that encompasses the land surrounding the Big Pinnacle and the River section which consists of land on both sides of the Yadkin River at the Bean Shoals. Pilot Mountain hosts approximately 700,000 visitors a year. The staff at Pilot Mountain stay busy taking care of this wonderful resource.
The person selected for this position will work 40 hours a week and will be required to work weekends and some holidays. Most of the duties of this job are completed outdoors and some tasks are strenuous. This position is seasonal and will last no longer than 11 months. The pay for this position is $8 per hour.
