Job description

The General Utility Worker position at Pilot Mountain State Park is a great introduction to working at a North Carolina state park.   For a motivated person this can be an excellent opportunity to learn many new skills.  Applicants must possess a valid drivers license and be 18 years of age or older. This position is 40 hours a week and requires working weekends and some holidays. Rate of pay is $8.00 per hour. This position is up to 11 months with possibility for re-hire after 31 days mandatory leave.

Duties: The person selected for this position will work with three other General Utility Worker's to ensure the park's facilities are clean and maintained. This team performs daily cleanup of the restrooms, picnic area, campground, parking lots and other public facilities. In addition to daily cleaning, the person selected for this position will perform ground maintenance duties including — but not limited to — mowing, weed eating and trail maintenance. The right person for this position should have a can-do attitude, be willing to learn and must be able to interact with the general public in a positive manner. Most of the work completed in this position is performed outdoors, in all weather conditions. Applicants must be able to work outside in hot weather for extended periods of time.

About Pilot Mountain State Park:
Pilot Mountain State Park is a NC State Park located in Surry and Yadkin Counties. It is roughly 3700 acres in size, and is split into two distinct sections.  There is the Mountain section that encompasses the land surrounding the Big Pinnacle and the River section which consists of land on both sides of the Yadkin River at the Bean Shoals. Pilot Mountain hosts approximately 700,000 visitors a year. The staff at Pilot Mountain stay busy taking care of this wonderful resource.
