Canoe the Yadkin-Yadkin River Access/Shoals Road

Join a Ranger for a leisurely paddle on the Yadkin River. We will depart from the Pilot Mountain State Park Canoe Access at the end of Shoals Road, and end our trip at Donnaha Park. The trip will take us through the Bean Shoals and past a Bald Eagle's nest. You will need to arrange for return transportation from Donnaha Park to the Canoe Access. Canoes and Personal Floatation Devise's will be provided by the park. Registration is required for this program and spots are limited. Register by calling 336-325-2355, or by emailing Pilot.Mountain@ncparks.gov . Be sure to bring water, food, sunscreen, and shoes you can get wet. When registering, please specify date of request.

Park Hours:

The Mountain Section:
 March to November : Opens at 7am, Closes at Sunset. 

 December to February : Opens at 8am, Closes at Sunset. 

Campers only may enter the mountain section until the following times:
March,April, October- 9pm
May-September- 10pm
November- 8pm

Yadkin River Section:
November to February: 8:30am - 5pm
March, April: 8:30am - 7pm
May, June, July, August, September: 8:30am - 8pm
October: 8:30am - 7pm

Please note the North and South River Sections are 10 and 20 miles from the mountain section of the park and have different operating hours. Gates are locked promptly at closing. There is no gate entry before or after hours, including campgrounds, except in case of medical or law enforcement emergency. No vehicles other than those registered to campers may be left in the park overnight.
