Events and Programs
Pettigrew State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful.
Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.
It's National Indian Heritage Month! Come learn how the Algonquin Indians lived in this area thousands of years ago. We will have several demonstrations and a craft.
Hike away those holiday calories! Join Park staff at Pettigrew State Park for a leisurely walk and learn about some of the park's interesting features. Meet at the Park Office at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 23rd. Plan on a 1.5 mile hike. Call the park office for more information (252)797-4475.
Enjoy an afternoon hike to one of Pettigrew State Parks' most popular historical landmarks. We will be hiking to the Pettigrew Family Cemetery. Along the way, we will discover some of Pettigrew's most scenic spots and maybe even catch a glimpse of some of our local wildlife. Be prepared for a 3 mile hike and dress for the weather.
Bring in the new year hiking the trails at Lake Phelps. Take in some of the scenic views around the lake and discover why Pettigrew State Park is a popular destination for winter waterfowl viewing.
