Wildflower Hike

Join a Park Ranger for a wildflower walk along the Jacob Fork River.  These moderate hikes will begin at the Jacob Fork Parking Area and last approximately one hour.  Each hike will be about 0.75 miles long.  Current blooming wildflowers and other flora will be identified on this walk.

Join a volunteer angler at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm for an introductory class on fly fishing.  Please bring all personal equipment available.  Classes may vary based on interest and skill level of the participants.   North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission fishing regulations still  apply.

Wilderness Survival 101 will cover basic survival information as covered in the Boy Scouts of America handbook. Topics covered will include basic first aid, shelter and others based on class interest and instructor discretion. Program will be presented by park volunteer who also teaches Fly Fishing 101 and has a great deal of experience in the outdoors.

Backpacking 101

Join a park volunteer for an introductory class on backpacking.  Participants will learn about proper clothing, trail cooking, basic first-aid and how to set up a tent. Meet at the Visitor Center at 2:00 pm.
