A new shuttle is planned to reduce traffic congestion and overflowing parking lots at Crowders Mountain State Park. The shuttle bus system is a partnership between the park, city, NC State Park system, and the Federal Transit Administration. The hope is to allow more people to enjoy the park without the hassle of hunting for, and possibly not finding, a parking space.
This year we will be celebrating veterans and highlighting our historical military role. One hundred years ago, a World War 1 firing range, known as Camp Chronicle was located on what is now part of Crowders Mountain State Park. Come join us to learn more about this history and as always, there will be great music, food, games, and activities for everyone!
For visitor and staff safety and to prevent traffic congestion once any parking access completely fills, the access area will be closed for up to 90 minutes. Only park vehicles and emergency/law enforcement vehicles will be allowed to enter the access if it is closed.
Visitors planning to arrive between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. are advised to consider making alternative plans in case they arrive at a closed access area. Please refer to the North Carolina State Parks web site or alternative information sites for available options.
Canoe rentals have been suspended until further notice.
