Great Blue Heron Loop
Location: Iron Ore Belt Access
Description:

The loop is 3.2 miles and the connector trail from the parking lot to the trail is .35 miles one way. This moderate trail follows the contours, slowly going down to the wetlands and slowly back up.

Point of Interest: Wanders through hardwood forests and along wetlands of the Haw River. There are several veins of iron ore along the ridge lines resulting in peddle to boulder size rocks. Iron in the rocks are very evident with deep red hues.
