Trails

Enjoy climbing and playing on this huge dune. Hike to the top for spectacular views of coastal Carolina. When hiking on the ridge, look for fulgurites, which are glass tubes when lightning hits the sand. (But please do not remove them from the park.)

Shoes are recommended to protect tender feet from sandspurs and hot sand. Sand temperatures may be as much as 30 degrees hotter than air temperatures. Be aware of the hang gliding landing and launching zones; refer to the park map for the location of these areas. The ridge area closes 15 minutes before the closing of the park.
