Gorges State Park is now open. Please exercise caution during your visit as park staff work on clearing debris.

Raymond Fisher Campground Closed   

The Raymond Fisher Campground is closed due to aggressive bear behavior. Black bears have been active at Gorges State Park in recent weeks. Please make sure to hang food properly or store items in the trunk of your vehicle and ensure that all the windows are rolled up. Please report any bear sightings and or activity to Park Staff at the Visitor Center immediately.

Events and Programs

Gorges State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful. ​

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.


Come view the changing fall leaves and enjoy local vendors, live music, special programs, hayrides, face painting, and s'mores!  This is a free, family-friendly event.  No reservations required!
