Merchants Millpond State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful. ​

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.


Join a park ranger, to learn casting skills.  Participants will learn how to cast a Zebco style rod and reel.  We will be attempting to catch the plastic and elusive "backyard bass."  Appropriate for beginners.

Come join a ranger to learn the basics of canoeing on Merchants Millpond.  The program will have a short how to session and will lead into canoeing on the pond.  Pre-registration is required.  There will be a  $5.00 canoe fee.  If you would like more information or to register, call 252 357 1191.
