Come Celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week at Pilot Mountain State Park. We will have a Kids’ Fishing Derby on June 9th from 10am to 2pm at the Pilot Creek Access of Pilot Mountain State Park. This is a free event welcoming all families to the park for a day of fishing. No fishing license will be required to fish at this event and the location of the derby will be stocked with fish by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission so it is an excellent opportunity for kids to be introduced to the joys of fishing. Young anglers registered at the Pilot Mountain State Park Fishing Derby are eligible to enter a statewide drawing for fishing-related prizes, such as tackle boxes, rod and reels, fish playing cards, fishing towels and much more.
