Crosswinds Campground Improvements/Construction    

The Crosswinds campground is scheduled for campground improvements starting in the fall 2018 and it is a possibility that the renovations may not be complete until the first week of June, 2019.  No reservations will be taken during this time through the call center or online until the campground improvements are completed.  Loops B and C at Crosswinds are being updated to 50 amp from 30 amp and the showerhouses are being renovated.

Events and Programs

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful. ​

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.

 

Ever wonder what lies beneath the water in a pond?  Why don’t you come join park staff and find out!  You will have fun learning how to identify aquatic life found living in a pond.  You will use nets, guide books and may get a little wet/muddy during the activity.  The program will last up to an hour is geared for all age groups.   You can register at leah.farr@ncparks.gov or at 919-362-0586 ext. 212.  The program will take place in Poplar Point Campground in Loop E around site 15.

Catch a Sure Thing (C.A.S.T.) – We provide the bait, tackle, and expertise. You are encouraged to bring your own equipment. You provide a child between the ages of 6 and 12 who wants to go fishing. This program is limited to groups of 6 children. They will learn how to bait a hook, types of fish found in the lake, and if willing, how to unhook a fish!

Please call the park office at 919 362-0586 ext. 218 to register your child. Please leave the child's name and a parent or guardian's name and contact number. Spaces are limited.

The program will be held every Sunday from June 2 to October 28 with some exceptions. No CAST programs will be offered on June 30, July 7 and September 2.

Did you say Bald Eagles, Ospreys?  Did you know Jordan Lake is home to these magnificent birds?  If you would like to learn about these large raptors please join us for a talk, photo gallery and slide show about eagles and ospreys.  Doc Ellen will be on hand talking about who wins the “Competition” of catching fish.  After the talk, we will talk a short walk behind the visitor center to observe the trees and skies for our feathery friends. Closed Christmas Day

Jordan Lake's day use area gates and campground gate open and lock promptly at posted times. No entry or exit is permitted before or after posted gate hours except for law enforcement or medical emergencies.

Closed on November 23, November 24, December 25, 26 and 27 for the holidays.
