The Hiking 10 Essentials & Profile Trail Nature Hike

New to hiking and the outdoors? Join Mountain Region Trail Specialist Amanda Smithson to demystify packing for a day on the trail so you’ll be prepared for the elements and any surprises along the way. Afterwards, we’ll take an approximately 2-mile hike on the Profile Trail to learn some of the region’s unique flora and fauna. This program is a part of the 10k Women’s Trail Project, an initiative to inspire at least 10,000 women to hike in 2018. This program is geared for women and those who are new to hiking and the outdoors. This section of trail is easy to moderate in difficulty. Please meet at the Profile Parking Area (4198 N Hwy 105, Banner Elk NC). Pack water, a snack, wear shoes appropriate for the outdoors, and dress for the weather. No children under 16 unless accompanied by an adult; well-behaved, leashed dogs permitted.
