Two State Parks Close Due to Inclement Weather

RALEIGH -- Carolina Beach State Park and Fort Fisher State Recreation Area in New Hanover County have closed due to high winds and heavy rains, according to the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.

Also, ferry service to Bear Island at Hammocks Beach State Park in Onslow County has been suspended.

Other state parks or park facilities in southeastern North Carolina could close on short notice due to inclement weather. Visitors in doubt about park conditions can call the state park or check the state parks system's Web site at www.ncparks.gov.
