Birds at Bear Island at Hammocks Beach State Park

A NC SCIENCE FESTIVAL SPONSORED PROGRAM.     #NCSciFest

Join a ranger in this hands-on program as we use our detective skills to figure out the secret to flying.  We will discuss their unique physical adaptations that give them the ability to fly in the sky and how we have tried to copy this skill for our own needs.  If the weather allows, we will then explore the park for some of the sky-flyers that call the park their home.

Meet at the Visitor Center.

About the North Carolina Science Festival

Founded in 2010, the North Carolina Science Festival is the first statewide science festival in the United States.  Through a series of community-based events each April (hosted by schools, colleges, libraries, museums, parks, businesses, and other local organizations), the Festival celebrates the economic, educational, and cultural impacts of science in North Carolina.  It is an initiative of the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  For more information, please visit ncscifest.org.
