How are state parks different from state forests?

State Parks:

Mission includes conservation, recreation and education.
Hunting is not allowed.
Wide variety of recreational opportunities.

State Forests:

Managed for multiple resources including wood products and wildlife habitat.
Hunting may be allowed in some circumstances.
Recreational opportunities vary between forests.

NC State Forests are under the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and are managed by The NC Forest Service.
