National Trails Day - Hike to Mt. Craig
In celebration of National Trails Day come join park staff for a 2.3 mile round trip hike to the second highest peak east of the Mississippi - Mount Craig. Named in honor of Governor Locke Craig (1913-1917) who was largely responsible for creating Mount Mitchell as North Carolina’s first state park; rising to 6,647 feet in elevation you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding watersheds. The hike is rated moderate to strenuous.
