Come Join Us for a fun-filled weekend as we welcome the North Carolina Downhill Skateboard Race to Mount Jefferson!
August 25 and 26, 2018
9am til 4pm each day
Admission is free
Shuttle service to the race viewing areas located at the base of the mountain starting at 9am each day.
Is the heat getting to you? Come on up! Ashe County, home of Mount Jefferson State Natural Area, is often referred to "as the Coolest Corner of North Carolina."
Join a Park Ranger guided hike or program. Take a float down the New River and find the perfect fishing hole.
July is packed with local activities. There are continuing concerts in the Town of Todd and on the Backstreet of West Jefferson. The month ends with the Bluegrass and Old Time Fiddlers Convention on July 27 and 28.
Spring has come to the mountains!
The sky is Carolina Blue with a few white, fluffy clouds. The snow is melting and the temperatures are getting just right for a visit to Mount Jefferson State Natural Area.
The trees are beginning to bud, the grass is turning green and soon there will be newborn animals everywhere!
The “In It to Win It” 100 Mile Challenge Giveaway Campaign launched on March 23, 2018. Check out www.ncparks.gov for more information on the 100 Mile Challenge.
There are times during the winter months when you may encounter the “Road Closed” sign as you enter Mount Jefferson State Natural Area. Or you may read a weather alert on the website. The question becomes - Can you still take that hike you’ve been promising yourself?
The answer is, yes!
